Lexi & Verona

My name is Lexi, I am from , BC, Canada. Since I am the first Canadian to take part in this program, it took a little longer to get Verona across the border as expected, but we finally have her home and she is improving daily. My goal is to bring Verona from a timid, fearful animal, to a willing and confident partner in the ground, as well as under saddle. I am so honored to have the opportunity to make this animal’s life worth living, and I am so excited to see where the next three months will take us.
Verona has been on my farm for one month now. Although we had a slower start as she was very untrusting, she now leads, gets brushed, has a blanket on, and has been saddled. I have thoroughly enjoyed spending my time with Verona and she has come so far. I am very excited to see what we can accomplish during the remainder of her training.
Verona is getting more and more used to people everyday. She can be saddled and bridled. I have lunged her walk, trot, and canter, and she is also getting very good at turning on the haunches, and backing up. I am excited for the next few steps of her training and am proud of what we have accomplished thus far.
Verona has now had a couple very successful rides, and is continuing to make major improvements every day. I am so excited for the Competition, but am definitely going to miss her once she gets adopted to one lucky bidder!
I have now ridden Verona walk, trot, and canter, as well as bareback walk and trot. I had my class come take a field trip to meet Verona on March 8 and she was so well behaved, we all had a lot of fun. I am so proud of her progress lately. She has just made leaps and bounds in the last few weeks. We are all so excited for the expo, only 13 days left!
